WALKTHROUGH

Part I
Go in the building, get the lamp, say PLUGH then PLOVER. You're in the Plover Room. Leave the emerald, go northeast, turn lamp on. Pick up the Pyramid, go south, turn lamp off, say PLOVER and PLUGH. Back in building. Drop Pyramid, pick up keys, go outside. Go south to grate, unlock it, go down. Go west, get cage, go west, turn lamp on. Get rod, note the magic word. Go west, west. Drop rod, get bird, get rod, go west to pit room.

Go down stairs, south. Get Nugget. Go north, west. Wave rod to create crystal bridge. Go west, get Diamonds. Go east, east, down stairs. Free bird to scare snake.

Go south, get Jewelry. Go north, west, get coins. Go east, north, north to Y2. Turn lamp off, say PLUGH. Drop Nugget, Diamonds, Coins, Jewelry. Say PLUGH, turn lamp on.

Go south, get silver bars, south, northeast. Get Helmet. Go south, northwest, east. Eat mushroom. Go south, north. Get vial of oil (don't drop it - explosive!). Go north, south, up stairs. Go east, get sword. Go west, down stairs, southeast, north, north. Note magic word MELENKURION. Go south three times, north twice to Y2. Lamp off, PLUGH. Drop Helmet and Silver Bars, get bottle and food, PLUGH to Y2, lamp on, south.

Part II
Down through hole, drop rod. Say BEDQUILT, then SLAB. Go south to Two-Pit Room. Down into pit, pour water on plant. Go up, west to Slab Room, up, north, north to reservoir, fill bottle. South, south, down to Slab, south, down, pour more water on plant (now 25 feet tall). Go up, east, down into new pit, fill bottle with oil. Go up, west, down, climb beanstalk. Go west - Golden Eggs here (note FEE FIE FOE FOO). Leave eggs, go north. Oil the rusty door, drop bottle/food/keys. Go south, east, north (squeeze through debris). Throw sword at ogre - it becomes a Mithril Ring! Get Ring, go north to Sorcerer's Lair. Note "NOSIDE SAMOHT". Go east to bottomless pit.

Go east, follow path southeast. Throw vial at slime. Go south twice, get Black Opals. North twice, west, southwest. Go north, west, enter southeast crack to Ice Room. Go east down ice slide.

Ice Maze: northwest, west, south, west, north, northwest, west, west, south, south. Get Crystal Sculpture. North twice, northwest, west, south, northwest, northwest, west, west, northwest. Magic word spelled: THURB. Say THURB to teleport back.

Go northwest, north to pit brink. North, west, south to Giant's Room (leave eggs). South, down beanstalk, up, west to Slab, up, south. Kill dragon with bare hands! Get rug, east, east to Hall of Mountain King. North twice to Y2, lamp off, PLUGH. Drop Opals, Sculpture, Rug.

Part III - Pirate's Maze
From Hall of Mt. King: west, west, west, east, south (into hole). East, south, south, south, north, east (brink of pit). North, east, northwest - Pirate's Den! Get Chest and treasures. Southeast, west, south to pit brink. Down, east, east. Lamp off, say XYZZY. Drop treasures and Chest.

PLUGH to Y2, lamp on. South, down hole, get rod. BEDQUILT, SLAB, south, down, climb beanstalk, west. Go north twice through door. Get Jeweled Trident. South three times, down beanstalk. Up, west, north to Bedquilt. East to Complex Junction, north. Open clam - pearl rolls out. Down twice to cul-de-sac, get pearl. Up twice.

Go up, east. Wave rod to bridge quicksand. East, north, north, southwest. Lamp off (lit by three moons). Down stairs to beach, get bag of pieces of eights. Up stairs, west, lamp on. Northwest, east, south. Get spyglass. North, west, south. Wave rod, go west over patch. West, down to Oyster Room, south to Complex Junction. Up, east, up, north to Y2. PLUGH, drop all treasures (keep ring). PLUGH, lamp on, south, down.

BEDQUILT, SLAB, south, down, climb beanstalk, west. North twice through door. Drop ring and rod, keep lamp. Go down into Whirlpool. North, northeast - Ralph Witt's treasure room. Get Turquoise Beads. West, south. Hit gong - ride turtle Darwin across lake. South three times, get dragon's teeth. East, east, north, north to Y2, PLUGH. Drop beads, PLUGH, lamp on.

South, down, BEDQUILT, SLAB, south, down, climb beanstalk, west, get Eggs. North, get food/keys, north, get rod/ring, west. Down slide to Low Room. Southwest, up. Throw Eggs to troll. Cross bridge, northeast, east, drop keys/food. Northeast, east, get Spices. West, north, lamp off. Wave rod, drop it. Cross bridge with ring. North to wall. Say MELENKURION - three crevices appear.

Part IV
Northeast, lamp on, north, northwest. Get Jade Bracelet. East - goblins attack! Throw dragon teeth - skeleton army defeats them. Northeast, get flask (don't open yet). South twice, northwest to main entrance.

Northwest into Fog Room. North into fog. Lamp off - follow distant light. Go down, lamp on. Get Ruby Yacht. North to Pentagram room. Put flask on Pentagram, open it. Release djinn - he tells about Ralph Witt. North, up. Djinn gives word PHUGGG. Up chimney, south, down - back at Fog Room entrance.

When lamp gets dim, drop it, say NOSIDE SAMOHT to recharge. North three times (past sleeping Basilisk). Down spiral stairs twice, north to another Y2. 

Enchanted Caverns maze: west, south, southwest, northwest, south, down, west, northwest, north, south, north, east. Lamp off. East to throne. Get Sapphire Sceptre. Note ghost's magic word (KLAETU, KNERL, BLERBI, SNOEZE or ZORTON). West, west, lamp on. Southwest, east, southeast, northeast, east, southeast, down, south, north to Y2.

South, down to Storage room, get plate. Up stairs three times, north to Peelgrunt Room. Say the ghost's magic word to open safe. Enter safe, drop treasures (not plate). Exit safe, close door. South - Basilisk wakes! Show plate (mirror finish) to turn it to stone. Drop plate, south to entrance.

Part V
Lamp off, south across bridge, south, lamp on, south, get keys/food, southeast, south. Say BARREN to enter bear room. Feed bear, unlock chain, get chain and bear, drop keys. Exit, up, north, west, west. Free bear at troll bridge. Cross bridge.

Type FEE, FIE, FOE, FOO separately to retrieve eggs. Southwest, down, southeast (Oriental Room). Leave Ming Vase, north, west to alcove. Drop everything, go east. Get Emerald! West, pick up everything. Northwest, south, get Vase. Southeast, east, get velvet pillow. West, west, west, down, climb beanstalk, west, get Eggs. South, down, up, west, up, south, east, east, north, north to Y2. PLUGH. Drop pillow FIRST, then vase. Drop rest including ring.

PLUGH, lamp on, south twice, down. Use same magic word on safe, enter. Get all treasures, exit, close safe. Up, north to Y2, PLUGH, drop treasures.

PLUGH, lamp on, south, down. BEDQUILT, keep going down to Witt's Construction. Get Spelunker Magazines. East to Witt's End, drop magazines. Keep going east until outside.

Wander until "CAVE CLOSING" message. You'll be deposited in sealed cylindrical room. Type magic words in REVERSE alphabetical order: ZORTON, XYZZY, THURB, SNOEZE, SAMOHT, PLUGH, PHUGGG, NOSIDE, MELENKURION, KNERL, KLAETU, FOO, FOE, FIE, FEE, BLERBI.

You're back at the road. Go south - find 2-foot slit instead of 2-inch. Go down the slit to the final treasure room and victory!
