SOLVE
Amazon is not really a particularly difficult game; what makes it hard in some spots is the tricky syntax needed to solve a problem or get past an obstacle. With this solution you should have no trouble at all in finishing the game.

Note: This solution is for the intermediate (seasoned explorer) version.

You start at NSRT headquarters. Wait one move for the satellite transmission picture to come in. Adjust your keys to "tune in" until the picture is clear.

After the massacre scene, "Go Office" to get your assignment. Give your name to Murphy, say "yes" to next question, then "ok". When asked what level, answer "Seasoned Explorer". He'll give you an envelope, then "go airport". Open envelope, "Go Miami".

Tell taxi driver to take you to the Institute (NOT hotel). Show letter to policeman. Enter building, tell secretary your name, answer yes to map question. Go east to office, "get drape" to uncover Paco the parrot. Tell Paco your name, open cage, answer yes to questions. Open refrigerator, get fruit, give fruit to Paco, call "Paco", open cupboard. Get dart gun and parrot food. Leave office. Bribe director down to ten thousand. "Go airport", buy tickets.

Answer courtesy booth page, take pack, open envelope, write down emergency code and regular code. "Go Amazon".

Guatemala City: Give cigarettes to immigration officer. La Paz (Explorer version): You'll be robbed. Turn computer on, input emergency code. Police arrive with Paco - give them belt (money belt with gold).

In the jungle: Sit up, turn computer on, input regular code. Go East, try North (boar appears then leaves), go North, go East (captured by troops). Wait until night, call "Paco" - he frees you. Take pack, go West, wear goggles, go North. Remove goggles, turn on computer with emergency code. NSRT guides you to safety. Sleep.

Morning: Go North (smile at Kemani tribesman). Village: keep entering commands until kicked out. Maze: N, N, N, E to clearing. N to Macuma, N to slopes. Wear parka. Keep going up. In snowstorm: emergency code for guidance. Go North, enter lava tube. Sleep.

Continue North to jungle. North to clearing with crate. Go East to drop site. Open crate, get rifle and parachute (leave raft and oar). Head North to river.

Wear goggles at river. Wait for hippo to leave. Go West to native boat. "Use parachute" to plug hole. Go South for paddle. Back North. "Shoot Paco" (dart gun), get in boat, "cross river". Alligators: "use rifle" (as club). Explorer version: "use paddle" to row fast.

Sleep across river. Monkeys steal everything except computer. Arcade sequence: chase monkey dot to recover pack. Go East to bridge. "Use gun" to persuade Paco. Continue East across collapsing bridge.

Go South to Tree of Skulls, West to Lost City entrance. Turn computer on, regular code. Go South to campsite. Wear goggles, turn laser on. Kill 3 Huni attackers. Sleep.

Morning: North to Lost City, continue North to storeroom. Go East to temple. Go North to wall, push wall, pull lever. Go down stairs. Go West, up to hall, West to tiny room, North - take key. Go South, East, North to door. Unlock door. Read paper (computer decodes it).

Go West to Antechamber. Open doors in sequence: Open 132. Explorer version: same code for second set.

Emeralds found! Go South repeatedly to soft volcanic earth, up to pit room, West out of city. Helicopter rescues you!
