**Life and Death - Full Solution**

**Setup:** Set difficulty to Novice first. Draw initials in box. Mouse recommended.

**Staff Selection:**
- Appendectomy: Pick Gregory Danielson (must!) + Kim Brewer. Avoid Beverly Kabes and Laurelee Menzies.
- Ken Shepherd if you need EKG help, David Manglier for incision help.

**Diagnosis Guide:**
- No pain anywhere = Intestinal Gas → OBSERVE
- Pain everywhere = Infection → MEDICATE
- Pain in some areas = take X-RAY (always!)
- X-ray shows white dots above pelvis = Kidney Stones → REFERRAL
- X-ray clear = Appendicitis → OPERATE

**Heart Problems During Surgery:**
- PVC: EKG drops, looks like "V" → inject Lidocaine (L)
- Bradycardia: flat EKG, beep stops → inject Atropine (A) (A goes with B)
- Blood pressure drops to 50 → inject Dopamine (D) (only one hypo!)

**Appendectomy Procedure:**
1. Open both drawers. Soap + gloves from top drawer
2. Antiseptic (bottle "A"): wipe entire abdomen
3. Sterile drape: place square in upper-left corner exactly
4. Close top drawer. Turn on gas
5. Inject antibiotics ("B" hypo), put blood bottle in IV
6. Scalpel: McBurney's incision - upper-left to lower-right, as long as possible
7. Clamp bleeders with forceps, cauterize each, remove clamps, sponge/suction blood
8. Skin spreader on incision → reveals subcutaneous fat
9. Repeat incise/clamp/cauterize on fat layer, then muscle layer
10. Find appendix (pink worm shape), retract with retractor
11. Clamp appendix base, cut above clamp, cauterize stump
12. Remove retractor, close layers in reverse with sutures

**Key Tips:**
- Keep ear tuned to EKG at all times
- Switch IV from blood to Glucose before blood runs out
- Cut quickly and straight for neat incisions
- Go to very corners for maximum wound size

**Aortal Aneurysm (Part 3):**
- More complex surgery with vascular grafts
- Different staff needed (Laurelee Menzies becomes useful)
- Monitor blood pressure constantly
